Whose with me?

Hello there lovelies,

I know long time no see, I have missed you all on this blog but with work,Christmas and the new lipstick blog's daily challenge I just have found it difficult to finish a post on this blog, I have got a couple nearly ready so you can look forward to those.

Anyway this post is not about my time away from this blog but instead it's about something completely different. Every year, I write out or think of New Years Resolutions, things that I am going to try and do in the year ahead and at the top of each years list is always the same resolution and that is to lose weight.

For those of you who don't know, I'm not the skinniest of girls. I never really have been and it was something that really got me down during my teenage years but as I have grown up I have just become more accepting of the fact I'm the size that I am. I am a UK size 16/18/20 depending on fit and shop and I have got used to that.

Although I have become accepting of my size, I still would really like to change it and this is where all the rambling in this post stops and I explain my plans and ask for your help and assistance.

source
source

This year I am going to do it... I'm going to attempt to lose weight and this is where you all come in. I am writing this post to ask who wants to join me in the battle to fight the fat and lose a little weight. There is a part of me who thinks that it will be easier to do if we all have a support system around us, a bit like a free WW meeting.

I also wondering whether you would like to be kept up to date with my battle against the bulge? Maybe share recipes? I don't know whether it is something people would be interested in?

Please let me know in the comments below.

Lots of Love,

Do you like Gilmore Girls?

Hello lovelies,

Recently I have got a little bit addicted to a TV programme. It is one that I haven't discovered on the telly, I've invested my money on iTunes and am enjoying the series so far. The programme is called Bunheads and its starts with the lead character, Michelle (played by Sutton Foster, one of my favourite american Broadway performers), a Las Vegas dancer marrying a fan and moving to his small town and her living with her mother in law after a tragic accident happens.

source

I bet you are wondering why the title of this is "do you like Gilmore Girls?
Well that is because the executive producer is the same lady who brought us Gilmore Girls. I have watched 3 episodes so far and have found there to be many similarities between the two shows and some of the actors from Gilmore Girls pop out through out, for example the mother in law I talked about above is played by Kelly Bishop, who played Emily Gilmore in the Gilmore Girls.

I have become rather addicted to watching this series on my iPad recently and just thought I would share a good television programme, which I thought you all might enjoy. Let me know if you check it out.

Lots of Love,

I've never agreed more with a song...

Hello Lovelies,

Today I bring you a song that I really enjoyed. It is by Carrie Hope Fletcher and it's called Boys in Books are Better.

I am quite a book nerd, especially romantic books/chick lit. I think I have discussed this fact on the blog before. I can quite easily lose myself in a book and of course I will fall in love with the main male (I'm such a book whore).

I have fallen in love with Jacob and Edward, Peeta, I'm currently even loving a bit of Christian Grey (the nice version, not the loopy, sex mad one).

What do you think of the song? Who are you book crushes? Let me know in the comments.

The Lost and Found, Birmingham

Hello Lovelies,

Recently I made the trip into Birmingham to meet up with a fellow blogger, Helen from Beautifully Superfluous. We had decided to go on a little blogger date and go for a wander around the shops and then for a meal.

When it came down to where we ate, I decided to take charge and book a table at a place that I had only visited once before, which was for their opening, and it was somewhere I have always wanted to return to. That place was The Lost and Found.

source

The Lost and Found can be found on Bennetts Hill and is the best little hidden away place that I have found in Birmingham. The interior of the building is pretty much ideal for me as it is a little quirky, a little vintage inspired and just really impressive. If you want to look at elements of the interior, I did take pictures when I went to the opening (LINK)

As I said before I hadn't been back since the opening, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect from the full dining experience. I have to say that I really enjoyed the experience. We were put at a table which had the most comfortable chairs and there was a little candle burning on our table. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food and drink were great.

To start off with me and Helen had a cocktail each, we both picked the same one and I can't for the life of me remember what it was called but it was very nice.

After much deliberation, we also decided to have the same main course too, which was the Burger and Chips. I tend to not eat a beef burger when I'm eating out as I can be a little fussy about what is in them, however there was something about this burger that meant that I had to try it and I'm so happy that I did. The Burger was so tasty and the chips were some of the best I have tried. I didn't need any seasoning or sauces because the chips were already seasoned and the burger had a tomato relish on it which meant there was no need for ketchup.

The thing that I really enjoyed about the eating experience was the way that everything was displayed, our burgers came out on big trays as you can see above in the picture and it was just something different to going to a chain restaurant.

Overall, I really enjoyed my dining experience at The Lost and Found and would definitely suggest you pop in there if you are in Birmingham.
Lots of Love,

How to make me enjoy Shakespeare

Hello Lovelies,

When I was at school, I despised reading Shakespeare in English lessons. I always found it tricky to understand and it always seemed that the plays that were picked never appealed to me or are just to over used (i.e Romeo and Juliet)

However recently I have grown a small fan of one Shakespeare play in particular and that is Much Ado About Nothing.

source

The image can probably explain why I love this play so much at the moment... Who doesn't love David Tennant? Then add Catherine Tate (which if you put together you have the makings of one of the best Dr Who pairs ever!!)

Anyway onto the play itself, this version was in the west end I want to say a couple of years ago and it is something I wish I had seen live. It is the original Romcom, the main characters Benedick and Beatrice from the beginning do not get on but it is obvious to everyone else they are in love with each other.

I won't talk too much but I will tell you where you can watch it. There might be other places to find it but I picked it up on Digital Theatre (link).

Starbucks Red Cups- my thoughts

Hello Lovelies,

So recently if you didn't already know Starbucks has released their red cups for Christmas. Everyone gets excited to see them as it indicates that the holidays are coming and it sends everyone into a frenzy.

Over the weekend, Starbucks had a deal in which you could buy one get one free, so I took advantage of this deal and I have now tried all four coffees. As I have tried all four I thought I'd give you a short rundown of what I think of them all.

Beverages
source
Orange Mocha: This coffee is just like drinking a Terry's Chocolate Orange and it smells like it too. I bought one on Friday and the whole way home my car smelt amazing. If you are a fan of chocolate orange you will like this one, plus there is next to no taste of coffee there.

Gingerbread Latte: This one is the one I thought would be one I would really enjoy but I found it a bit disappointing. There wasn't a great deal of taste to the one I had. I would say I prefer the Nescafe sachets which you can get HERE (plus they're cheaper).

Toffee Nut Latte: This one for me was the worst one of the lot. The smell as you bring the cup up to your lips is a very strong nut smell and the taste is mostly nut too. I didn't even finish this one as the taste just wasn't pleasant for me.

EggNog Latte: This one is the one that I thought I wasn't going to like. I have no idea what eggnog is  but the fact it had egg in the name made me wary. However, I think that this one was one of the nicest coffees of them all. It tastes just like a creamy sweet coffee.

So all in all, my favourites are the Orange Mocha and the Eggnog Latte. Have you tried any of the coffees yet? Which is your favourite?

Lots of Love,

In case you missed it

Hello Lovelies,

Another week through, which can only mean it is ICYMI time.

This post is a rundown of all the goings on on both this blog and my main blog, which if you didn't know is called A Bit of This and That, which if you haven't checked it out I'd love you to pop over and visit.

Here we go:

Monday: COLLECTIVE HAUL. I did a little shopping last month so Monday's post was all about what I have been purchasing recently. Why not check the haul out?

Tuesday: SHARE THE LOVE #2. Every so often on my second blog I like to share the love and introduce you to two bloggers that I love, this time was no different.

Wednesday: IDEA: Birmingham Frankfurt German Market Meet Up I think the title of this post gives away what my idea was. I'd love to have a meet up in Birmingham around Christmas with a few bloggers. What do you think of the idea?

Thursday: 13 BEFORE THE END OF 2013 TAG I made a list of 13 things that I would like to have done before the end of 2013 and made it into a tag. What would you like to do before the year is out?

Friday: MY POSSIBLE NYE DRESS Speaking of the end of 2013, I talked a bit about what my plans are for New Years Eve and showed you a dress which I think would be perfect for the night in question. What do you think?

For this week, that is all.

13 before the end of 2013....

Hello lovelies,

So I recently came up with an idea called 13 before the end of 2013. The idea is that between now and the end of the year, the 31st December, I would like these things to happen. I am going to tag people at the end of this and we'll see how far this can go as a tag.

  7. I will have recorded and put up a London vlog (this is if I can get the confidence)
  8. I will definitely have had a blogger date with the lovely Helen from Beautifully Superfluous.
  9. I will have attempted to get my skin sorted... its currently not in a good state.
  10. I would have liked to have visited the cinema again... I haven't been in so long.
  11. I would like to have visited a Wagamamas... I've never been to one.
  12. I would like to be able to say I understand how to use my camera (the Canon 600D)  & also have bought a remote for it.
  13. I would like to have recorded a collaboration video with another YouTuber/

So there are my 13 things I would like to do before the end of the year

Share the Love #2

Hello Lovelies,

So today I thought I would do another share the love post. The two blogs/bloggers that I have chosen to introduce to you today in my opinion had to be put together. You can't have one without the other and those to lovely ladies are.....

Lisa from Lisahh-Jayne

 photo lisahh_zps71b98e64.png

Lisa is the snapchat queen, if I go a day without having at least one snap chat from her, I feel a bit empty haha. Her blog is a beauty blog full of reviews, wishlists, NOTD and beauty rambles.

Personally, Lisa is a lovely lady always available for a chat or a get together. I just wish she didn't live so far away from me.

Bex from Futures

Futures.
Bex is a lovely lady I have had the pleasure of meeting in real life once and I can't wait to see her again. She, like Lisa is someone I know I can go to with a problem big or small. Her Header which is above explains on the tin what her blog is. I love it and her.

Have you ever checked out their blogs?

Hello Lovelies,

This post is a rundown of all the goings on on both this blog and my main blog, which if you didn't know is called A Bit of This and That, which if you haven't checked it out I'd love you to pop over and visit.

Here we go:

Monday: My Favourite Face Brushes this post was supposed to come with a video, the video then went live all fuzzy and horrible so I deleted it and re-recorded it yesterday. The link should now be working so check it out. What are your favourite brushes?

Tuesday: My Blogging Space in this post, I showed you where I do most of my blogging and asked the question where do you write your posts?

Wednesday: Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Metallic Pomegranate Review this post does what says on the tin. It was a review of the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Metallic Pomegranate. Have you tried this shade yet?

Thursday: Easy Halloween Outfits I might have mentioned it before but I am not the biggest fan of Halloween, however I did think of a few simple outfit ideas, which I shared with you all. Did you dress up for Halloween?

Friday: My Dream Handbags we can all dream about owning pretty things, well in Friday's post I talked about all of my dream handbags. What is your dream handbag?

For this week, that is all. Tell me in the comments whether you enjoy the catch up posts of the week or not? I thought it would be a good idea because you never know if you might miss something.

My blogging space

Hello lovelies,

Today I thought I'd introduce you to my blogging space, the place that I do quite a lot of my blogging. Some bloggers have snazzy desks to write at, me I have two places I write my posts either on the sofa watching telly/youtube whilst my parents are trying to chat to me OR on my bed singing along to musicals online.

This post is about my bedroom blogging because I do do most of my blogging there.

Meet my bed (this kind of feels really personal) complete with my old (but functioning) laptop and iPad on show. It isn't the most snazzy of set ups, unlike other bloggers but this is my little safe haven, where no body else can get to me.

Where do you do your blogging? Let me know in the comments.

Lots of Love,

Easy Halloween Costumes

Hello Lovelies,

If you know me at all, you will know that I really do not like Halloween. All the masks creep me out a bit and to be honest all in all I am a bit of a wuss.

source
I have realised a few years ago that you can easily make a costume if you HAVE to so today, I thought I'd talk about three easy ones I would try.

Wednesday Addams

I have recently become a little obsessed with The Addams Family Musical so this was an easy one to think about. All you need is : A black dress with a white collar, black leggings, black boots. Hair and Make up wise, the hair just needs to be put into two plaits and also a pale face would help (but it isn't essential).

Barbie

source
This is really easy, its just A LOT of pink. Pink lips, pink dress, pink shoes and if you want to live recklessly a blonde wig.

Finally one I don't have a picture for thanks to finishing this post from a car in Cornwall. That is a cat. Being a cat can be the easiest costumes ever, simply buy a set of ears ( which should be easy to get your hands on at the moment thanks to it being so near to Halloween) and also grab an eyeliner. Draw a small black nose  and a few whiskers and hey presto!! You're a cat.

What are your views on Halloween? Are you a fan or not?

                        Lots of love,

Halloween Nails.... Pumpkin Nails

Hello lovelies,

As it is getting towards the time of Halloween (not my favourite time of year but still) I thought I'd have a go at some Halloween nails. Yes they are very simple but they look affective I think.

They are so simple to do they literally took two products, Models Own Beach Party as a base and a black nail art pen from my Rio Nail Art set that I have actually reviewed on my main blog that you can see HERE.

What do you think of these nails?

FOTD: Wedding Edition

Hello Lovelies,

Today I bring you a face of the day post, this one is a wedding based FOTD. Last week, I went to a family wedding and I decided to keep the make up neutral and simple. In fact so simple that I recorded a get ready with me video for it. This video won't be up for a while yet though, so I thought I'd show you all what I wore on my face on here first.

You might notice the background of this picture. Yes it was taken in the toilets of the venue.. I'm that classy. Anyway onto the face...

Base: Maxfactor 3 in 1 Foundation in Light Ivory
Concealer: MAC Prolong wear concealer in NW20
Powder: Rimmel Stay Matte
Eye base: MAC Bare Study Paint Pot
Eyeshadows: MAC Naked Lunch and Urban Decay Toasted
Lips: YSL Rouge Volupte in Nude Beige

I have to say looking at this picture, I wish I knew how to fill in my eyebrows as they are rather bare looking.. help me fellow bloggers.

Tell me what you think of this look?

LIFE WEEK: the problem with romcoms

Hello lovelies,

Some of you might know that I am a massive romcom fan. 80% of my DVD collection is made up of romcom films, my favourite book genre is chick-lit (romcom's sister) and overall I love to see love.

Recently though I have begun to realise something, my look on life is warped because of my love for the rom com. So today I thought I'd explain two problems with the romantic genre as a whole.

Share the Love #1

Hello Lovelies,

Welcome to something I will be calling Share the Love. Each month I shall share with you two bloggers/blogs that I love and thing everyone should be reading.

My first two are a couple of the many lovely ladies I have met through blogging who I call my friends.

*beautifully superfluous*
HELEN: This girl is my lifesaver. I text her daily every day on more than one occasion. I know I can text her about anything and she will be there for me. Her blog, Beautifully Superfluous is one that I have read since I begun blogging, I actually don’t remember how I found her blog, but I read every post she writes. She is also the reason I have got so good at scheduling.

! Zoe - Lianne x ! | Beauty and Lifestyle
ZOE: Like Helen, I text Zoe a lot. We have gone to concerts together and like Helen, if I ever need a chat or someone to moan to, I can send her a message. Zoe is also the person I go to with any ideas surrounding blogs and YouTube. When I first started YouTube, I sent her my first video to check out before it went live. When I had the idea of this blog, I talked it through with Zoe first.
Her blog is one that I will always take the time to sit and read, and I think it deserves more readers than it has.

Please check out their blogs if you haven’t before, if you want to check them out click their headers, In the comments why don’t you tell me a blog that you really enjoy.

Lots of Love,
XxX

  • Base: Maxfactor Whipped Creme Foundation
  • Concealers: Soap and Glory Kick Ass and Rimmel Wake Me Up
  • Powder: Rimmel Stay Matte
  • Eyeshadow Base: MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study
  • Eyeshadows:  MAC All that Glitters and Quarry
  • Eyeliner: L'Oreal Superliner
  • Mascara: Benefit They're Real
  • Lipstick: MAC Rebel

My Current Wishlist

Hello Lovelies,

Today I bring to you a bit of the long list of things that I am currently really wanting (a lot). Of we go...

First up, I want two of these large drawers to live at the bottom of my current acrylic storage system. One of the drawers will be for my skincare pots as the place I'm currently storing is really tricky to get in and out of and the second drawer would be for samples which are currently stored away and never will get used.

FOTD Autumnal Eyes

Hello Lovelies,

Today I thought I'd bring you another FOTD picture. This photograph was taken at the weekend when I was brave enough to give myself free reign to play with make up before I filmed a couple of videos for my YouTube Channel.
As I was already in my snug jumper, jeggings and warm socks fully accepting that it is Autumn now, I thought I'd have a go with my MAC eyeshadows at doing something a bit more autumnal with my eyes and here is what arrived at the end.

The make up involved for this look was:
  • Base- Origins Smarty Plants BB Cream
  • Concealer: Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer
  • Eyeshadow Base: Maybelline Colour Tattoo in "Metallic Pomegranate"
  • Eyeshadows: MAC Cranberry and MAC Sketch
  • Mascara: Benefit They're Real
  • Lipstick: YSL Rouge Volupte in Nude Beige.

What do you think of this look? Let me know in the comments below.

Hello Lovelies,

Over the last month I have been doing a bit of shopping. As you may know, I had my birthday last month in August so I had a little money to play with, I also had a few vouchers to use up and there were also a few sales around which I just had to take advantage. I know I shouldn't need to say this but I bought this all with my own money, I'm not bragging, I just thought you'd like to see all my new goodies.

Thank you Sasha for my Goodies

Hello Lovelies,

Recently I received a lovely parcel from the lovely Sasha from Ramblings of a Beauty Bird. I had sent her a little gift as we were chatting a long time ago about MAC palettes and I said that I had a spare quad that I didn’t need that she could have.

Well I sent it over to her along with a pan of All That Glitters as no palette should be sat around empty and she had been talking about the shade during our chats. Well anyway I felt good that I’d done a good dead (enabling another MAC love to begin) when I received a tweet saying that I had a parcel of Sasha on the way.

I had not been expecting anything in return but  sure enough when I returned from my holibobs with my family there was a box with my name on it waiting for me. I immediately opened it carefully ripped it open and this is what lay in wait for me.

Sasha had sent me a little card, along with four little presents from The Body Shop… Mango Shower Gel,Mango Body Scrub, Mango Body Butter and Mango Lip Butter. As soon as I saw the body butter I may have squealed a little… you see the last two times I have walked into The Body Shop, I have stopped by the Mango Body Butter, rubbed it all over my hand and then wandered around smelling myself. I am a little bit addicted to the smell and to see for products from the range got me a little bit excited.

As I said I was definitely not expecting anything back from Sasha, so I have to say thank you to the lovely lady herself for my little mango based treat. Thank you Sasha.. Everyone needs to check out her blog which I'll link to HERE.

Lots of Love,
C
